Young gent from Balbalan is Mr. Kalinga Ambassador 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – With his wit and strong stage presence, the representative of Balbalan Municipality, Justin P. Capito was crowned Mr. Kalinga Ambassador 2022 during the coronation night of the province’s ‘biggest pageant’ at the Kalinga Astrodome, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Apart from the crown, he also took home P25,000 prize, Netizens’ Choice Award and Best in Glamour Wear Award.

In an interview, the 19-year-old gentleman told GURU Press Cordillera that he is grateful that despite the limited time to prepare for the pageant, he was able to snatch the crown with the support of his family, friends and supporters.

“Awan unay [preparations] sir kasi awan unay time gapu ti acads ngem diyay nakisaliak iti Mr. KSU ket nagbalin nga [kasla] dakkel nga preparation ko for Mr. Kalinga Ambassador” Capito said.

Capito earlier said that participating in the pageant is his way of highlighting the breathtaking waterfalls, picture-perfect landscape, and captivating mountain views located in the lands of the ‘most peaceful sub-tribe in Kalinga.’

Balbalan is known for its ecotourism destinations which include Balbalasang National Park, the Saltan River, Magangab Cave, Dinugdugan Cave, and the Maanus Cave.

Crown is equal to responsibilities

With him getting the crown, responsibility lies ahead. He plans to pursue his advocacy of promoting ecotourism to help improve the local economy as well as enrich and preserve cultural heritage and social development of communities in Balbalan.

With his advocacy, he hopes that the public will support him throughout his reign for him to be able to fulfill them and managed to carry out his role as a youth ambassador.

Who is Justin Capito?

Justin Capito is a Forensic Science student at the Kalinga State University.

His father is Jaime Borreta Capito from Bullalayao, Pantikian while his mother-Carol Peralta Capito is from Sesec-an, Talalang, Balbalan.

For his experience in pageantry, Capito was once crowned as Mr. Cawagayan National High School in 2018 and also Mr. Masablang on the same year.
