Young man from Tanudan is top 1 in PH Air Force Military Training

Tanudan, Kalinga – Coming from a family of military men in Mangali, Tanudan, this 24-year-old made his family and the entire Kalinga Province proud after finishing his military training with flying colors.

Airman Laurence Liwaliw who was enlisted in the Philippine Air Force(PAF) in 2023 wrapped up his 4-month Basic Military Class on August 18, 2024, in Lipa City as the top 1 of his class.

Liwaliw belonged to the BMT Class "KINAADMAN" 2024 Bravo where he obtained the highest grade from 607 Airmen, earning him the prestigious Commander Air Education, Training, and Doctrine Command(AETDC) award.

The 24-year-old told GURU Press Cordillera it has always been his dream to join the uniformed service as he was inspired by his four older siblings who are in the military service. For this reason, just after he finished his degree in Industrial Technology major in Electricity, he applied for the PAF. 

“Ginusto ko talaga na makapasok gawa ng iba kong kapatid ay nasa military din, at gusto ko rin na  maging proud sila sa akin lalo na ang aking mga magulang,” he said.

He added he did not plan to top his class and that he was just there to do what it takes to pass every activity and to survive the training which started on April 22, 2024.

Just like other trainees, Liwaliw also faced challenges while at the training camp, but what kept him going was the drive to prove to himself that he can do it.

The Tanudan Municipal Local Government headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag commended Liwaliw for this feat and for giving the younger generation of iTanudans another path to emulate.
